BOURNE — An outdoor fire ban is in effect in Bourne at least through Friday, according to a release from Bourne Fire/Rescue & Emergency Services.

Both Bourne Fire/Rescue & Emergency Services and the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts’ Board of Directors are imposing the ban.

The ban includes fires associated with fire pits, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces and cooking and heating equipment that are not specifically covered under 310 CMR 7.07, also known as the Open Burning Regulation, according to the release.

The release cites recent wildfires as the cause of the ban and the expectation of more wildfires based on predicted weather conditions.
